What's pump housing?
Pump housings is the enclosure that surrounds the mechanical parts of a pump, especially the centrifugal pumps, including the shaft and impeller, and protects and support them. The pump housing is the pump's mainframe, and it contains the pumped fluid and supports the impeller. Simply put, the ductile iron pump housing is a casting component that holds a pump. So the pump housing is very important because it prevents leakage and retains pressure by protecting the inside of the pump from the atmosphere.
What's pump housing material?
Mainly, ductile iron is one of the most popular casting materials for pump housing, espeially water and wastewater pumping applications. However, some of our customers will choose to use cast iron or grey iron to cast them too. The normal cast iron pump housing mainly tend to withstand wear very well, so no need to replace them frequently.
Baoding Guokun's cast iron material are as follows:
- Ductile Iron, ASTM A536 Grade 60-40-18, Grade 65-45-12, etc. ASTM A536, is a type of cast iron known for its combination of durability, high-strength, flexibility and low-cost manufacturing.
- Grey Iron, ASTM A48/A48M, etc.
- Carbon steel or alloy steel, stainless steel, etc
- Bronze pump housing, as per our customer's requirements.
